403 Error - Forbidden: Access is denied

If you're receiving a 403 error under your Plesk site there are generally two reasons for this to occur.

  1. The first thing to check is that you have uploaded an index (index.html) file. If you have not uploaded an index file the Web server will display a 403 error by default.
  2. 403 errors can also be caused by invalid entries in your web.config file. If you're not using ASP.NET you can disable it to fix the error. In your Plesk panel for the site, click on the "Hosting Settings" link and then uncheck ASP.NET. If you're using ASP.NET you will have to fix the problems with your web.config file.
