How do I setup Private Name Servers in WHM?

These instructions set the default name servers under your WHM Reseller account.

  1. Log into your WHM account.
  2. From the left hand navigation menu, click Basic cPanel & WHM Setup.
  3. In the Nameserver 1 field, enter your primary name server information. For example:
  4. In the Nameserver 2 field, enter your secondary name server information. For example:
  5. Click Save Changes.

These new settings will only affect new accounts. Existing accounts will keep their original settings.

In addition to adding the settings above, you must also create an DNS a-record for each NS host-name. The a-record points each NS host-name to its proper IP Address. If the NS domain is hosted under your WHM account you can use the DNS editor inside your cPanel to add each a-record.

The final step is to register each NS host-name and corresponding IP Address with your domain registrar. Your registrar should provide a tool to complete this last task.
